Reserve a Table

I’d never been to this hidden gem in Canmore. My first thoughts walking into Table Food + Drink: Wow. I was not expecting this!

The place is gorgeous with a heavy timber pergola separating the huge dining area into cozy sections. A large stone fireplace separates the dining area from the lounge, giving this place an intimate feeling while still remaining open and airy. Cool.

  • We sat towards the back of the restaurant overlooking this stunning interior with a window view of the patio and mountains – well, the mountains would have been there if it wasn’t snowing so heavily. Good thing we know their outline and could appreciate what the view would be without the snow. The patio looked like a fun hangout, with a large fireplace and overhead lighting. With some of the best happy hour specials in town, I have a feeling I will get to know that patio quite well throughout the summer!

Kennedy, our server, was very diligent and friendly. She ensured our experience was perfect from start to finish. We started with drinks, wine and a Wild G & T with local gin from Wild Life Distillery. The fresh mint and cucumber really made the gin and tonic pop with flavour.

We started with a charcuterie cheese board, which was of course delicious. It was the perfect size for sharing. All of the ingredients at Table are fresh and their menus change seasonally. This ensures the best possible flavours and the most amazing dishes at any time of the year.

For our mains, I had the Canmore Pasta Co Pappardelle. It had homemade pasta with wild mushrooms, real shaved parmesan, red wine truffle sauce and pulled bison. I was excited to try the bison, since it’s something I normally wouldn’t make at home, and I’ve never tried pulled bison before. Spoiler alert: it was awesome!

My partner had the Duck Two Ways, which was beautifully plated and had delightful flavours. I have to confess I stole some of the duck confit. It was worth it! The meal came with fingerling smashed potatoes, roasted in duck fat, and roasted heirloom carrots. It was a well-balanced and well-rounded meal.

There’s something about eating fresh, real food that fills you up so completely. I was way too full for dessert. But when chef Tim Matsell came around to ask us about the meal, he recommended a bourbon peach fruit crumble served with house made ice cream that he made special for the evening. Well how could I possibly say no to that? We got it to share, and we were very glad we did. It was the perfect cap to an otherwise outstanding meal and a really fun night out.

Table Food + Drink is a hidden gem in Canmore’s dining scene. This place surprised us in every way, from the stylish interior to the outstanding food and the excellent service from start to finish. I know I’ll be back to enjoy Table’s stellar Happy Hour specials on their beautiful patio with those killer mountain views. I hope to see you there!
